Remember to vote on or before November 4, 2025!
Voting is one of our most fundamental responsibilities as citizens. It is how we hold our leaders accountable and ensure that the will of the people is reflected in the laws and policies that impact us every day. With statewide offices and the entire House of Delegates on the ballot in Virginia this November, we have a huge opportunity to:
Flip key seats
Protect our Democratic majority in the House
Elect politicians that will move Virginia forward

You may register to vote using the online Citizen Portal tool or in-person at your local DMV office or Registrar's office. Even if you have voted successfully in the past, it is important to double check your voter registration status every election cycle!
The deadline to register to vote, update your registration, or request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for the November General Election is October 24, 2025.
If you miss the registration deadline, Virginia does allow Same Day Voter Registration, which allows you to vote in person using a provisional ballot during Early Voting or on Election Day.

Voting by mail is safe and secure, but we do recommend allowing extra time for possible shipping times. Voters may request to vote absentee in a single election or for all future elections (permanent absentee), and you may apply online for an absentee ballot online through the Citizen Portal.
Early voting begins 45 days prior to the election and ends the Saturday before Election Day. Remember, you do not have to have a reason to vote early and will follow the same ID requirements and process as voting in-person on Election Day. Check the dates and times for Early Voting in Winchester City or Frederick County.
When voting in person, you'll need to present acceptable forms of ID. You can review acceptable forms of voter ID here. Polling places are open from 6:00am to 7:00pm on Election Day. Remember, anyone in line at 7:00pm has the right to vote, so if you are in line when the polls close, stay in line!
You may only vote in-person at your assigned polling place, so it is essential to know your polling place prior to Election Day. You can check your polling place here.
Know your rights. If you require assistance, there are many options available for voters who require accessible voting options, so don't hesitate to ask an election officer for help.
It takes a lot of people to keep our elections safe and secure, and supporting our democracy has never been more important! Please consider volunteering to become an:
Officer of Elections - Also called a poll worker, Officers of Election do the work of administering the election and ensure that the election runs smoothly during Early Voting and on Election Day. You will apply for and be trained for this position through your local registrar's office.
Poll Observer - Also called a poll watcher, poll observers are authorized representatives of political parties or candidates who can report on issues or concerns from inside polling places but do not interfere with the voting process. You will apply for and be trained for this position through DPVA (the Democratic Party of Virginia).
